Mikhail A. Molchanov joined St. Thomas University in 2003, after working for 2 years in a senior analyst's capacity with the Government of Canada. He carries Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1989), Master's in Public Administration from New York University (1993), and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Alberta (1998).
His research interests span comparative politics, international relations, and international political economy. He is the author of Political Culture and National Identity in Russian-Ukrainian Relations (Texas A & M University Press, 2002), as well as co-author and co-editor of Ukrainian Foreign and Security Policy: Theoretical and Comparative Perspectives (Greenwood/Praeger, 2002) and The Ashgate Research Companion to Political Leadership (Ashgate, 2009). He published a number of articles and book chapters on postcommunist transitions, nationalism, regionalism, and resource politics in Russia, Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
